Privacy policy
This privacy policy explains how the Money Manager app for Android and iPhone (package and bundle ID com.shohansk.moneymanager), developed by shohansk, handles your information.
In short: Money Manager stores the information you enter only on your device. The developer does not collect, receive, share or sell any of your personal or financial data.
Information the app processes
To work, the app stores the information you choose to enter, such as:
- accounts, categories and their balances;
- income, expense and transfer records, including amounts, dates, notes and tags;
- budgets, investments, valuations, loans, repayments, savings goals and recurring items;
- app settings, such as your chosen currency and, if you turn it on, your app lock PIN.
This information is stored in a local database inside the app's private storage on your device. It is used only to provide the app's features, such as showing balances, budgets and reports.
Information we collect
None. The developer does not collect any personal or financial information from the app. Specifically:
- There is no account, registration or sign-in.
- The app makes no network requests and contains no code that sends your data anywhere. On Android, the system lists an internet permission because the app's built-in web view requires it; the app does not use it to transmit data.
- Your data is not transmitted to the developer or to any third party, and is never shared or sold.
- The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking software, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
- The app does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone or other personal information on your device.
Files you export
The app lets you export a backup file (JSON) and a spreadsheet of transactions (CSV), and import them again. These files are created only when you choose to, and are saved wherever you choose using Android's file picker or share options. Once exported, the file is under your control and is subject to the privacy practices of wherever you store or send it.
Exported files are not encrypted and contain your financial records in readable form. Please store them securely.
Device backups
Android: if you have enabled backup in your Android or Google account settings, Android may include this app's data in your device backup, which is stored in your own Google account.
iPhone: if iCloud Backup is turned on, iOS may include this app's data in your iCloud backup, which is stored in your own Apple account.
Whether this happens is controlled by you through your device settings, and these backups are handled by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies. The developer has no access to them.
Web version
The web app at shohansk.github.io/money-manager-site/app/ is the same app running in your browser. Your data is stored in that browser's local storage on that device and is never sent to the developer. The page is hosted by GitHub Pages, which, like any web host, receives standard request information such as your IP address when the page loads; see GitHub's privacy statement. The developer does not see these logs. To delete web app data, use Settings → Delete all data in the app or clear the website's data in your browser settings.
Security
Your data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read under the standard Android and iOS app sandboxing. You can also turn on an optional PIN lock in the app's settings. Anyone with access to your unlocked device, or to a backup file you exported, may be able to see your data, so please protect your device and your files.
Children's privacy
Money Manager is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
Data retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Because no copy exists on any server, the developer cannot access, recover or delete it for you. You can delete all of it at any time by:
- using Settings → Delete all data in the app;
- on Android, clearing the app's storage in system settings; or
- uninstalling the app.
Deletion is permanent. Any backup files you exported, and any Android or iCloud device backup, are not affected and must be deleted separately. See how to delete your data for step-by-step instructions.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
